Welcome to Word Wise LLC, all things Doc-Control and Tech-Writing
Let's chat about my document control beginnings.
Hello! Thanks for visiting. My name is Susan, and I am a seasoned Document Control Manager, Technical Writer, and Copy Editor. I've worked mostly in medical device, diagnostic, and biopharma companies where I've seen many processes that work, and many that haven't within my areas of expertise. I've worked in startups and established companies, and I've seen it "all", the good, the bad, and the ugly! I figured I'd share my experiences (no name dropping here), tips and tricks of these trades, and everything in-between. I want to help those who have been in a "pickle" and had a hard time knowing which base to run too (baseball talk)! I want to help, support, encourage, motivate, and cheer you on in any and every aspect of your document control and technical writing endeavors.

Let's Talk Document Control!
We all know that now, everything is electronic; E-signatures, E-Files, E-this, E-that. Makes sense, right? Think about how everything was maintained before electronic document management systems (EDMS). There wasn't the cloud, networks and ERP databases - I mean, it was crazy having to manually route an Engineering Change Order (ECO) or a Change Order (CO) by walking a bright colored folder, or in my case a plain folder, around the entirety of the building, or buildings if you worked in a medium or large company with multiple buildings on the campus, gathering signatures from those who were required to review newly created or revised controlled documents, and then going through the ancient release process that took at least a week to train on before you can use the documents (or whatever was being released). Thank goodness those days are long gone!

In Closing
Oh my, there is so much to know about document control and technical writing, and how they can go hand-in-hand. I want to continue sharing about my experiences from my beginnings, to where these practices are today. I'll also share the stupid things I've done (and I've got many) and how to avoid them. I hope you'll come along for the ride.

I encourage you to leave a comment, question, or message for further discussion. You can also check out my website at www.wordwise-editing-techwriting.com.
